RIGHT HIT

A logical Hit of the mind's hammer

A giant ship engine failed. The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine. Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a young. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom. Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do.

After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away.

The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!" So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."
The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer....................... $ 2.00

Knowing where to tap.......................... $ 9,998.00

RINGXIETY

A new study found that two thirds of the people surveyed, reported hearing their phone ring or feeling it vibrate when it had not actually rung.
The phenomenon has been termed "ringxiety."
The more frequently a person uses their phone, the more often they reported hearing a phantom ring, the study found.
These participants (67% of the people surveyed) had higher monthly charges, used more minutes, sent more text messages, and showed higher levels of impulsivity. They were also younger. (participants ranged in age from 18 to 86).
The study also shows that some people rely on their mobile phone to regulate moods and maintain social connectedness. Those people who prefer to use their phones for text messaging, rather than talking, evidence higher levels of loneliness, social anxiety, and problem phone use.

Interesting most of us would identify ourselves with this crowd less or more isnt main but most of us do some may be due to anxiety over some special calls while some may identify it as plain restlessness over every call.....but honestly a "human touch" to life is more admirable than "chip n dwell touch :) "

Just came across this new study found it worth sharing no wonder there are many more miracles that cell phones are leading to getting it restricted to professional level than personal is definetely appreciable for human relationships :)

I once had a friend who grew to be very close to me.Once when we were sitting at the edge of a river, she filled the palm of her hand with some sand and held it before me, and said this:"You see this sand carefully contained on my hand?

It symbolizes Love.

This was how I saw it: "As long as you keep your hand caringly open and allow it to remain there, it will always be there.

However, if you attempt to close your fingers round it and try to posses it,it will spill through the first cracks it finds This is the greatest mistake that people do when they meetlove...they try to posses it, they demand, they expect... and just like the sand spilling out of your hand, love will retrieve from you. For love is meant to be free, you cannot change its nature.

If there are people you love,

allow them to be free beings.

Give and don't expect.

Advise, but don't order.

Ask, but never demand.

It might sound simple, but it is a lesson that may take a lifetime to truly practice. It is the secret to true love. To truly practice it, you must sincerely feel no expectations from those who you love, and yet an unconditional caring."

One, who can be late from work once in a while when deadlines, just like yours, are to be met;

Imperfect World

" Imperfection is always unaccepted while in others "

I just came across this thought written by an anonymous
writter ...so true i thought of it.We all live in a world clogged with thoughts of owning supremacy over another, thriving to survive, struggling to live all sounding so tough to deal with at the same time so depressing!! :(

So to say Imperfect world??
may b true because they do match atleast literally with the definition that the dictionary offers you :)

like:

It is state of being defective or inadequate...

Easily broken or damaged or destroyed..

having deficiency mark or flaw..

all of them might be true to state but i believe there are two aspects of this depends in what context you sense the word imperfect....tangible goods ?? or we Humanbeings ???

sure to say tangible goods comply to these definitions but

what about WE??
ARe we imperfect ??DO we know what imperfection is with regards to human beings??Do we have the right to judge this imperfection??

In human context Perfection from ages has been equated with the capacity and caliber of Divine Beings or God's ...we arent they so why do we still thrive for this???interestingly there's another aspect to this....I would try and bring this to forefront as much as i can ...

Imperfection and Perfection has a very thin line and to most people who say they are perfectionist it means to deliver their best at what they are working(so thats related to work) to achieve a sure shot success....but rather I would define this as a thin line as a state of mind we all know we dont have an endless capacity or caliber like divine beings.....and yet after we burn our soul all day in work..back home lay down on bed still wondering if there could be a day so satisfactory that could make it perfect. So next day we push our capacity again to see if we could make this day perfect again we fail and then the cycle continues and detoriates our spirit for everything that in turn depresses us making us feel things can never be perfect with this not only do we find our work imperfect but suddenly we end up feeling even people are imperfect (with the way their behaviour is towards you) ....Ahhh a long but never ending cycle !!!!!!!!

I am not here to preach our brief you about depressed state of people because of this....but honestly We all have forgotten to lose up... Imperfection is a part of "US" "We" "ME" madness is necessity, letting go is requirement ....this just reminded me of the MiRANDA ad where it says " Pagalpan bhi zaroori hai " ;) true right !!

I am happy being Imperfect perfection doesnt rule me atleast never for others ...i would prefer to judge my capacity do them well than quiver about things going wrong.People around you might suggest tonnes of ways to relax or lose yourself give up the thought of being PERFECT In an IMPERFECT world but like all rivers flowing to ocean mantra is one

to strike BALANCE with calmness...(expand this cord

Why memories hold our hands??

Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge.
The father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter,
"Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don't fall into the river."
The little girl said, "No, Dad. You hold my hand."
"What's the difference?" Asked the puzzled father.
"There's a big difference," replied the little girl.

"If I hold your hand and something happens to me,
chances are that I may let your hand go.
But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens,
you will never let my hand go."


In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond.

So hold the hand of the person who loves you rather than expecting them to hold yours...
This message is too short......but carries a lot of Feelings.
A point to ponder why relationships hold our hands its becauase we want them to be safe :)

(Story) Dont be too Busy - 4 A's

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to
find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door...

Son: "Daddy, may I ask you a question"

Daddy: "Yeah sure, what it is?"
Son: "Dad, how much do you make an hour"

Daddy: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such
a thing?"

Son: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you
make an hour?"

Daddy: "I make Rs. 500 an hour"

"Oh", the little boy replied, with his head down.

Looking up, he said, "Dad, may I please borrow Rs. 300?"

The father was furious,"if the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow
some moneyto buy a silly toy or other nonsense, then march yourself to your room and go to bed.Think why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior"

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about
the little boy's questions.

How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down,and started to think:
"May be there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs. 300 and he really didn't ask for money very often!"

The man went to the door of little boy's room and opened
the door."Are you asleep, son?" He asked.
"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.

"I've been thinking, may be I was too hard on you earlier",
said the man,"It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you.Here's the Rs.300 you asked for"

The little boy sat straight up, smiling "oh thank you dad!"
He yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled some crippled up notes.The man,seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at his father.
"Why do you want money if you already had some?" the father grumbled.

"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied."Daddy I have Rs. 500 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.

Isnt this story touching i read this story when i got a forwarded mail i really wished to add something to it because or else most often we end up reading stories unheard we feel a tinge of emotion holding back for few seconds (esp when mails hit you in forwarded package ) and move on and switch on the music of daily life that is ofcourse our reagular hectic life.I wonder how many people need to get there food for thought from others once i was into a seminar an the orator said he is giving us food for thought and probably that made him think that it would be enough for us to realise of what that topic reflected i firmly believe if you are a human being who cannot reflect from daily life may be no amount of some external food for thought can help you its simply easy to understand you need to have an eye for details and yup see them observe till you feel like and then plan for your future :) .......well i guess the topic would go long if i keep talking about this so i better return back to my original thought (well sorta food for thought who really need this ;) )

No need to agrravate the whole senario because the simple act of the kid in the above story was enough for us to know what it mean :) so if you are one of those readers who can really identify with this story dont worry i am not here to make you feel guilty rather i am here to talk about something different :) for those who think this is merely meant for some parents think again :) because most often we come across problems regarding human relations which we cant handle lk going by physics we are under the effect of same frame of reference often effect by same feelings unlike the material problems where you simple chalk solutions....

Going back by this i felt like there are 4A's that can actually help you to amplify the amount of love you have in any relationship ( not going by only love please include respect understanding and humanitarian values too)...all upto you how many more alphabets you wish to add i feel like these 4 are simpler one's to apply for all :)
so Here they are --

Availability -- Are you available for your loved ones..??

Think upon i do not mean being available just at the time of need (esp if you have kids)....being available means making them feel comfortable to tell you that they can contact you talk to you and tell you things when they wish to .....for some simple reason that
1st kids cant often come up with an explaination of their
problem.

2nd for an adult all of us feel some inhibition to contact the person who says i am busy and still says i am there for you its rather contradictory.

Appreciation -- How often do you relly appreciate people
for the simple things they do??Do you?

well most often we dont esp if our wife or kids do the small things they do often for us .....ok or if not then your secretary who without any reason at times listens to your squall??? or to those of your friends who often add more meaning to your life.
Life isnt just the same ball everyday like with friction of time it gets eroded and so we need to renew it no way can you change things and still expect same satisfaction.

Well appreciation esp when little things add more meaning to your life when done regularly are more meaningful and please they feel anybody would call you chivalric its a plain thank u with a smile :)

Affection -- do we mistake affection it with love??

Two different words yet each one holds powerful emphasis on relations...Get affected make them belief you care simple connectivity can do that magic tell them how happy you are when you are with them dont let all things be left to be understood at times speak and say to them.

Accepted -- Everyone wants to be accepted as they are
isnt it???

Well i thought would leave the BEST for the last if you miss this you miss the whole meaning .......

Be it kids or be it an adult they want to be heard only when you are available, can appreciate them say and feel affectionate towards them...but above all for anything they do (as a mistake) they wish to be ACCEPTED..
As a child make your child feel world wont end if things go wrong initially be there for them to tell them life offers a chance to correct it again but not always so they need to learn rather than simply make them feel low because you feel being a stern parent with no time is more apt NO ITS NOT i am sorry i dont agree.With other relations it applies as well trust can only be established once you know you would be Accepted.

Well this had been a long long post so i felt i wont add more after this thats why restriceted with 4A's you sure can add more meaning and depth you your relations with many many more alphabets not alone A :) so Happy parenting nuture relations and treasure them ..

I feel i need to live again,

There’s a philosopher in every soul, an artist in every spirit.
An outlook of the world that we form in our heart is because of the mix of ideologies that we believe in and the influence we have bygone…....what ever ‘they’ (referring to many traits) are at the end of the Day we call it “Attitude”.

Friends I really might not be able to impress you with my thoughts here because this is my style of writing and my style is none of your business (showing tinge of my attitude ;) )

One of the most important Human needs (yes, going to the depth of even the needs from any relation) is to be understood, cherished and honored. You don’t need to do all this in any grand way to make the other one feel gr8 but honestly a small effort can make you savour the best from any relation. This small effort is Listening.

Its said when Intelligent men want there wife’s to be quiet they say “ you look beautiful when silent” . An easier way to escape when you don’t want to listen. Jokes apart ……..but seriously most often in our daily life’s we end up what we call in our college slang bugging up others………

Yet again listening to somebody is waiting for the other one to stop talking. We expect the other one to stop and listen to us that’s our way of going…..Talk till you lose your Breath.
Nevertheless I don’t personally object to talking when you have something really nice to share and the other one is willingly ready to listen to you ……but buddy make sure the other one is listening.

Being a human being its easy to understand that most often when we have somebody to listen to us we wanna talk and talk Our Hearts Out………bz that’s how you want it to be……you like sharing with those who cherish what you say….isnt it?

We have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason God wants us to listen and have patience more than talking and arguing. So chose to listen more than you talk.
A few tips I feel like sharing for an impressive listener and a beginner who wants to listen more ……..and talk less –

1. Eye contact:

Chose to look at the other person when things are being told to you when your eyes wander into looking around the room and the other one is talking……..it makes the 2nd person feel neglected. If you have chosen to sit down and really listen make sure your eye contact is good.

PLEASE DON’T STARE.

When I say eye contact it doesn’t mean you start gazing the other one so badly that he/she feels awkward to an extend that they stop sharing. Be genuine listener empathize with the point being made by the other. Use comforting and encouraging eye contact.

2. Stop Interrupting:

I know if you have just started listening ………..the bug really doesn’t let you do so ….you end up interrupting with YOUR Point of View into the others story which really isn’t right.
The other one has got a sense of his/her own and don’t teach or preach until and unless asked for a suggestion….they may just want you to listen not Conclude what they should have done or should do. So Stop Interfering Till Invited to do so.

3. Pauses to understand:

A very essential part to make the speaker feel that you are really listening is to pose the right question at the right time ……it means when you are actually listening you ask ‘what’s next’ ‘then what happened?’ etc or might even be a question according to situation.
Try to pose the right question at right time and you would have more information than you would have ever imagined the other one would share.

4. Right pause:

From the above 2 points you might be confused as to where to talk and where not. So here’s a simple tip to know when your understanding has turned into interference.
When you talk for more than a minute or half and the other one is quiet you sure have lost your sense.
STOP RIGHT THERE.
And invite the other one to continue.

She : Sorry yaar but it was a date. It was his idea. Raj tha na you think I’m crazy to go alone??who’s gonna drop me back home?

Friend : Raj ….i mean usko kuch pata hai.
She : I shared my views with Raj. He had called me the next day. Kuch bola nahi. Na "yes"nor "no", he didn't preach what is right or what is wrong. But after talking to him I felt good that what I did was right.


Friend : Kal tera cell try kar rahi thi was engaged for so long ki I slept….around 11.
She : Yeah, I was talking to Raj. He is very much worried about my marriage. Kept saying if I would get a guy of my choice or not, whether I would be happy with him or not. Its very sad toknow this. But I am helpless. Maine samjhaya ki my parents would decide the best for me .But useless.

Friend : How would he feel after your marriage??Will he not beupset all the time?

She : TIME WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING( at times human beings cant be more sarcastic than this.............). He will start living again. Was he not leading a normal life before I came into his life????? Time sab thik kar dega yaar….ab I cannot help it and he understands (oh hell she still expects him to Understand???).

Finally " She" got engaged with a guy of her parent's choice (withher "yes" of course). She is in touch with both Raj and thenew "him" regularly infact she expected him to attend her marriage (height hai yaar!!!!) why arey because he is her “True Friend”.

Finally " She" got happily married to "him", very soon convertingRaj into memories, but DELETING “her” from the Memories was SLOW AND PAINFUL for Raj.

GET the Basics Of 123 Deal Right!!!

Well right now the whole India knows the kind of upheaval that’s on the Political front so fragile now that General Elections are anytime possible. And with the Newspapers offering too much stuff on the same nobody knows what the real matter is ???View points can be understood once you know what this deal is all about the pros and cons and what party says What and Why says so?

What’s the ABC of this 123 deal??

The name comes from Section 123 of the US atomic energy act.

Section 123 of the United States Atomic Energy Act of 1954, titled "Cooperation With Other Nations", establishes an agreement for cooperation as a prerequisite for nuclear deals between the US and any other nation. Such an agreement is called a 123 Agreement. To date, the U.S. has entered into roughly twenty-five 123 Agreements with various countries.

What it covers??

It covers the laws for the "development and the regulation of the uses of nuclear materials and facilities in the United States and substantially refined certain aspects of the law, including increased support for the possibility of a civilian nuclear industry with different countries.

NON Proliferation Treaty (NPT)

Members of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) are granted access to civilian nuclear technology from each other as well as nuclear fuel via the Nuclear Suppliers Group in exchange for IAEA-verified compliance of the NPT tenets.
India, Israel, and Pakistan, however, have not signed the NPT, arguing that instead of addressing the central objective of universal and comprehensive non-proliferation, the treaty creates a club of "nuclear haves" and a larger group of "nuclear have-nots"
…… by RESTRICTING the legal possession of nuclear weapons to those states that tested them before 1967, who alone are free to possess and multiply their nuclear stockpiles. The treaty never explains on what ethical grounds such a distinction is valid.

India insists on a comprehensive action plan for a nuclear-free world within a specific time-frame and has also adopted a voluntary "NO FIRST USE POLICY".
In response to a growing Chinese nuclear arsenal, India conducted nuclear weapon tests in 1974. Led by the US, other nations set up an informal group, the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), to control exports of nuclear materials, equipment and technology. As a result, India was relegated to a pariah status within the international nuclear order. In view of continued proliferation by China and Pakistan, and its own huge population, India conducted 5 more nuclear tests in May,at 1998 Pokhran.

KEY FEATURES 123 agreement–

1.India can have nuclear cooperation & trade with US and others WITHOUT Compromising its Weapons Program.
2. India need not sign NPT or put its nuclear facilities under full time safeguards.
3. Assured Fuel supplies for its civilian nuclear reactors.
4. It allows India to reprocess and recycle spent fuel.

Good points for India with Strategic implications-

1. India gets access to more diversified sources of energy. It breaks open a regime that blocked India’s access to high technology after 1974.
2. High tech and dual use of tech in sectors like IT, space, defense, pharmaceuticals.
3. India will get recognition as state with advanced nuclear technology.
4. The deal WONT be offered to Pakistan.
5. It gets to keep its present nuclear weapons.
6. It wont be a relegated to a pariah state.
7. The deal allows India to achieve its 20,000 MW of power by 2020.Also its clean energy savings on the carbon emission wil be big.

US interests –

1. Rise of India helps US in the post cold war world ; India and the US on the same side.
2. The United States held India’s attitude to Iran to be a test. India responded by voting against Iran not once, but twice, in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
3. US firms can partner India in high tech ventures(including sectors of civilian nuclear energy, strategic economic alliance, Defense exercises) which right now are forbidden at present.

Fall out of the treaty happens when –

1. If India conducts a Nuclear test.
2. The bar on the test would be upheld by the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group.

Criticism and Opposition to this treaty –

1.Left thinks its too generous to India.
2. The “Wrong signal” will go to Iran, North Korea, Pakistan and would undermine our friendship with these countries.
3. India should make N weapons on its own uranium without assistance of the Big shots.
4. The BJP ,The CPI(M) and several top nuclear scientists and institutions in India have asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to not accept the deal in its December 2006 form as it stipulates conditions that in some areas are more severe than the clauses in either the NPT or the CTBT.

5. Several top Indian nuclear scientists have written an appeal to Indian parliamentarians to ensure that "decisions taken today do not inhibit India's future ability to develop and pursue nuclear technologies for the benefit of the nation".

Opposition on how much the HYDE Act is biding or not.

HYDE ACT –

US according to its Atomic Energy Act, can’t have nuclear cooperation with any country that hasn’t signed the NPT or submitted itself to safeguards. Hyde Act gives US the chance to enter into a treaty with India without entering into the NPT.

BUT WHY would US be so GOOD to India the rider is that–
India should work with US to contain Iran’s N-program.

Now the government claims this Foreign policy is not mandatory and not at all binding and the Deal wont come struck if India ignores it. BUT the critics want further clarification.

Why is CHINA FURIOUS????

The Chinese foreign ministry and official media have voiced their objection to the deal on the ground that-
1. India was not signatory of the NPT (non proliferation treaty). But now gets all the access due to Hyde Act OF US. It mentions the violation of trust by US.
Chinese newspaper refer quoted saying “ US has disregarded international opinion to use India as a TOOL for its global strategic pattern”. They feel is injustice has been done because the US is now afraid of the China’s fast growing economy in ASIA.
2. US is clear that there are no international implications and obligations to do things like how the World desires.
3. The Chinese deal was done in 1985 got cancelled in 1998 and now China had no FUEL while India would have.
4. China did not get the processing rights in its own treaty but INDIA has Got it.
5. China had then allowed bilateral inspections by the US and the Australian inspectors but India did not allow them.
6. China has given Australia the right to check and play role in which of its reactors are civilian and which are not. But INDIA has RESISTED this.
7. Again China has undertaken “De facto” permanent safeguards without permanent supply again India has not done so.
8. Another reason is that most Chinese experts have been considering Japan as a hostile nation and since India wants to enter UN security council with Japan. The recent visit of Chinese PM is very crucial to China.

In short China feels INDIA HAS STRUCK THE BEST POSSIBLE DEAL WITH US in NUCLEAR front.
And the similar reasons exit for Pakistan’s insecurity too.
