Swami Vivekananda and some resources

"We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. If what we are now has been the result of our own past actions, it certainly follows that whatever we wish to be in future can be produced by our present actions; so we have to know how to act"-- Swami Vivekananda.

Words fall short when you want to extol a man with Courage, Character yet Calmness and Peace. We all long to meet people who display faith and hope with actions. In todays world where everyone is talking about changing mindset I see why in 19th Century Vivekananda could vision what India's need would be. His writings are perfect source of inspiration to every man and woman today.

I have always found great respite and freedom whenever in trouble by reading his work just a line or two would remind you what you want to do. It is exactly like someone pushing you to get up and be who you truly are. His motivation was his never ending faith in God and Self. Even Mahatma Gandhi said everytime he read works of Vivekananda his heart was filled with love for India.

Today on his birthday 12 January i pay my deepest respect. I wish I can be even an iota of who he was .......Nay I am as he was (We are all same and equal). May he be born again and again and again.

Sharing some resources i read personally. (Doesn't matter what you know about him but matters what knowledge you can gain from him. Therefore i did not include his biography but added his work here. You read it it almost feels like he's sitting next to you.)

Vivekananda was truly a gift to the whole world, accomplishing so much in such a short life, and showing how true strength is found in love, honor, courage, and wisdom.

Though some seem to feel a need to tear him down, those doing so are forgetting the difference 150 years makes; and more importantly, forgetting that greatness never proceeds from attempts to tear down others- to disparage one long since gone is a coward's path.

Vivekananda is no longer here to answer insults or accusations, but the light of words and deeds will long outshine those of his detractors.

Thank you Shreya, for helping to celebrate his life, and providing links, that others may come to know him better.

@JaiMaaDurga ... You know I feel you can never tear down men with great ideas and vision even ages after ages even if their ideas seem useless to you. Because they never offered quick fixes people like Vivekananda have offered holistic approach towards self, society and nation as whole. I don't know a single quick fix method that can be used and can still manage to do that holistically.

As for him not being around us to answer insults i think even if he had been around he would have smiled and continued doing what he does best. Or else in his days he was insulted verociously by all western world and yet his strong groundedness made him who he is today. He would have never felt it. It is like gift of insult returned as it is.

Thank you for your comment. Do read the given stuff if you get time they have excellent knowledge locked.
