NO NEED TO HURRY THINGS.

I WAS ON A PILGRIMAGE TRIP WITH FAMILY TO BADRINATH AND KEDARNATH. TODAY WHEN I RETURNED YOUR EMAIL WELCOMED ME. IT WAS PLEASANT SURPRISE.

COMING TO THE ARTICLE - SACRIFICE IS CONFUSING AS YOU SAID. IF ONE IS DOING WITH AN INTENTION OF RETURN FROM OTHERS, HE SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR DISAPPOINTMENTS ALSO. WE CAN NOT EXPECT CHILDREN TO LOVE THE WAY EXPECT THEM TO BE.

ACCORDING TO ME, SACRIFICE WITH EXPECTATION OF RETURNS IS NOT A SACRIFICE AT ALL. EXPECTATIONS MAY LEAD TO DISAPPOINTMENTS IN FUTURE.

SACRIFICE AS DUTY TO SOMEONE ALWAYS REMINDS OF THE PAIN OF THE PRESENT AND ALWAYS THERE IS TENDENCY TO SHIRK FROM DUTIES. IN SACRIFICE AS DUTY ONE IS NORMALLY NOT HAPPY IN THE PRESENT.

SACRIFICE TO SELF IS AN INVESTMENT WHICH WILL REAP RETURNS DEFINITELY FOR THE FUTURE FOR ONESELF. THIS IS REQUIRED TO SECURE THE FUTURE BY FOREGOING SOMETHING OF THE PRESENT.

SACRIFICE FOR SOMEONE WITHOUT EXPECTING RETURNS FOR THE SAKE OF LOVE, DUTY... OR ANYTHING IS TO BE ACHIEVED. THIS SACRIFICE WILL NOT BRING IN NEGATIVE FEELINGS EITHER IN THE PRESENT OR IN THE FUTURE.
THIS IS DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE AS EVERY HUMAN HAS DESIRES, EGO, ETC., AND THERE IS TENDENCY TO BECOME SELFISH.

IT IS REFRESHING TO READ THE ARTICLE AFTER LONG TIME. SIMPLICITY AND HONESTY IN YOUR ARTICLES TOUCH ME.

WISH YOU HAPPY HOLIDAYS.....

SATHYA PRAKASH

SATHYA PRAKASHnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2558578402699001119.post-85127421239452399302013-05-21T07:04:19.357-07:002013-05-21T07:04:19.357-07:00@Nirmala ... This is exactly what i wanted to say ...@Nirmala ... This is exactly what i wanted to say and you put it here in few words. It really drains us out if we are not in agreement with it or if we are we are only expecting something awesome out of second cause and if results are not so we feel like a loser not just once but through out our life.

We wish we could return to the point of retracting our decision but that cannot happen now. Past is dead it cannot be re lived we have to accept it. The only better thing we can do is make better conscious sacrifices. Our 1st duty is towards our own self and we must never forget that. To be Selfless we have to be a bit selfish :).

Happy to see you here :). I'd be moving out for summer vacation for a few days so my posts shall now come up by end of june or start of july.
Thanks for waiting dear :)

Love ya :)
adiosShreyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15186435108883720247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2558578402699001119.post-77545034440522166282013-05-20T23:57:32.751-07:002013-05-20T23:57:32.751-07:00This is one area where we feel just drained. We seek completion and a sense of self-worth in our ability to make others happy. We also seek that emotional high that comes by our so called sacrificial nature! Sometimes it is “sacrifice” for us but for others, it is “duty”. . I think, basically, we long for at least acknowledgment if not affirmation/appreciation.
Though outwardly we make the choice to please/sacrifice, inwardly we are bleeding ‘coz we know ultimately we are going to get hurt and also we are missing out on opportunities that come knocking our way.
Congratulations to you on trying to redefine the word “ sacrifice”. It is difficult but not impossible though.to sacrifice our old habits
As always, the post is fantastic! Humans just go a step ahead they do not end their job at just creating but nurturing and loving even after the child has grown up.

Unfortunately sometimes deep within we muster a sense of getting something back in return if not material then at least in terms of feelings or emotions. Then the whole meaning of sacrifice changes doesn't remain purely Selfless.

To be Selfless we have to be Selfish at least to a tiny winy level which we must know as minimum need or basic need, beyond which never compromise and never expect seems practical.

Until and unless someone's tiny winy need is rolce royce ;) you'd be able to manage fulfilling your need and sacrificing without desire of return together. In short remain happy :).

Thanks again James for dropping your comment. Lovely to see you here.
:)
adiosShreyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15186435108883720247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2558578402699001119.post-1983083911577816362013-05-18T00:58:43.996-07:002013-05-18T00:58:43.996-07:00Welcome back Shreya!

They have the knowledge that
they are afflicted by hunger; yet
by delusion they go on feeding
grains into the beaks of their
young ones. O Valorous among men!
Men love their children, coveting
for a return. Do you not perceive
this from these birds?"

Being familiar with this, I was
delighted to see your modern restatement of this same point.
I am grateful to virtually
accompany you on your continuing
journey of discovery and
investigation :)

May Maa bless your progress!
Jamesnoreply@blogger.com
